This project explores the beauty and image standards placed on women in the dance industry. Ballet is often seen as graceful and perfect, but behind that image is a world of discipline, control, and physical strain. It explores the natural marks, folds and wrinkles on the human body, each one telling a deeper story about the body and the effort it goes through. By translating these textures into woven art pieces, I want to highlight the beauty in what’s usually hidden or overlooked. It’s about celebrating imperfection, and questioning the narrow standards of beauty we’ve learned to accept.
